Closing event with Sunday lunch at the Guesthouse with screening of 16 mm film works from Filmwerkplaatz Rotterdam by Taiwanese artist in residence Lichun Tseng and additional works by Esther Ulrus and Daan de Bakker.
Tseng uses the time-based medium of 16mm celluloid film to capture apparently formless objects. Working with this now rarefied medium, Tseng creates concentrated works where images are captured to reflect on ephemeral subjects of motion, being and time/spacelessness. Her work is technically beautiful and well realized, she is one of the few contemporary artists making new and relevant work in this difficult medium.
Lichun Tseng is a Taiwanese artist currently based in Rotterdam and an active member of WORM Filmwerkplaats. She will present her new film work with additional works by fellow Filmwerkplaats artists Esther Ulrus and Daan de Bakker.
The collaborative and shared technical knowledge and facilities at Filmwerkplaatz is essential for fostering new work by a current generation of artists re-exploring this medium.
